Finding Roommates

Who you live with may be even more important than where you live, so it’s a good idea to think through the decision of whether to have roommates and who your roommates will be.

While your best friend might seem like an obvious choice, be sure that you have considered the challenges that living in close quarters will bring. Living together can sometimes strain friendships, especially if you disagree about cleanliness, parties, guests, paying bills, or expectations of each other.

Visit the JMU Off-Campus Housing Roommate Finder to create a roommate profile! Provide information about yourself and your lifestyle and what you are looking for in a roommate and housing. Once your profile has been created, you can view profiles of other JMU community members looking for roommates and housing in the area.

There is also a Facebook group called James Madison University (JMU) Housing, Sublets, & Roommates, where you may post your housing and roommate needs. Please note this group is unaffiliated with our office or the university.
